Mark Sorenson
Inducted in 2016
Mark Sorenson first played for New Zealand when he was sixteen and continued for more than twenty years, collecting honour after honour along the way.
Sporting Category:
  • Softball
He was the first Black Sox player to win four world championship gold medals after he had earlier won a world title with the Junior Black Sox. A catcher, he played about two hundred matches for New Zealand, including seventy in world championships.

Among the many peaks of a glittering career was one of softball’s rarest feats, a perfect game in conjunction with pitcher Michael White in the 1996 world final against Canada.

Mark Sorenson was inducted into the International Softball Hall of Fame in 2009, sixteen years after his father Dave was similarly honoured.
