He had a long dual career in tennis and badminton. He won nine national badminton singles titles between 1948 and 1960, seven doubles titles and four combined doubles. Outdoors in the other racket sport, Robson played Davis Cup for New Zealand for three years, won the national singles title in 1949, 1952 and 1956, the national doubles title on five occasions and the mixed doubles twice in addition to frequent appearances on the international circuit.
