The news of his deeds travelled far and wide and The Golden One became Goldie. All the promise he showed was fulfilled: when still a teenager, he had played for New Zealand at both rugby and cricket. In an All Black career that encompassed 71 matches (including 60 tests), Jeff Wilson was regarded as among the best to have played the game.
